Safe Tonight by Marsheaux

Marsheaux

Auxiliary Magazine is excited to premiere the new single “Safe Tonight” from electropop duo Marsheaux.  Known for their many covers as well as their original compositions, Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou aka Marsheaux have put together an impressive body of work including five studio albums and remixes for Depeche Mode, Moby, Client, Kylie Minogue, Gwen Stefani, and Katy Perry. Marsheaux have long paid tribute to the synthpop legends that helped shape their own musical identity. They have covered New Order’s “Regret”, Depeche Mode’s album A Broken Frame in its entirety, and played with The Smith’s album artwork for The Queen is Dead with their rarities and B-sides album E-Bay Queen Is Dead. “Safe Tonight” is from their forthcoming fifth studio album Ath.Lon and the single features the original track plus an extended version and two remixes. The title Ath.Lon brings to mind the Greek word “athlos” meaning the achievement and is derived from the first syllables of the two cities which served as the background for their new material: Athens and London. Hear “Safe Tonight” first with our preview of single which will be released officially on May 3rd.

  1. Lovely! A return to the feel and sound from ‘Peek-A-Boo’, the Nikonn remix is also quite sublime.

  2. Sounds so simple – but it isn’t.
That is their unique skill and love for the genre.
    Perfect synth pop.

  3. Bitter-sweet The Cure like sound. Awesome!!!
Marsheaux are for me the best techno-pop group at the moment.

  4. “Close your eyes, you’re safe tonight.” is repeated so many times, too many times, and it’s not a great chorus line (to me). (Sigh.) Those are just not lyrics that I want stuck in my head. (Sorry for the brutal honesty there.)

The Fotonovela Remix is easily my favorite. I’m quite looking forward to Ath.Lon.
