focused music news for week 32 : August 7th to 13th 2011

August 9 – A new album from The Gothsicles, Industrialites and Magic is out now on WTII Records, and while I didn’t exactly give it a glowing review, the album is still fun and I still love The Gothsicles. While listening to the album for the review, I struggled to figure out what “Save Dat Mermaid” was about and now there is an official video to clue us all in!

August 9 - The Birthday Massacre release a new EP, Imaginary Monsters on Metropolis Records featuring three original new tracks and a slew of remixes. Temporarily, or so I hear, they are streaming the new EP up on their Myspace page. So dig out your old passwords and check it out!

While The Birthday Massacre’s new album Pins And Needles doesn’t get released until next week (9/14) they have released a new video for their single “In The Dark”. The video is captivating, as a story progresses along it is broken up by the band rocking out under strobes. The song itself is a shining example of what the album contains. April 21, 2009 in Buffalo, New York marks the The Birthday Massacre’s first stop on the “Show and Tell Tour”. The tour will consists of 22 show dates across North America running through the end of May. Then the band will take a month off and then head over to Europe for the remainder of the summer. This tour is in support of their first ever live CD, Show And Tell. The intensity of their live shows was captured on film in late 2007 in Hamburg, Germany and a DVD version of Show And Tell will be released later this year. Lucky for Auxiliary Magazine, we were at the show and had the opportunity to conduct the following interview. Hope you enjoy.
