Co-founder of The Sirens Seduction Forum, Arden Leigh’s interest lies in seduction. She most recently honed her skills of seduction as the Director of Training and Marketing at New York’s most renowned house of professional domination, where she trained neophyte young dominatrices to seduce their male clients into spending lots of time and money on them, and became one of the most successful professional dominant to ever tout a whip there. She has written her own seduction guide for everyday women, Whipped: A Professional Dominatrix Shares the Secrets to Wrapping Men Around Your Little Finger.

The Sirens Seduction Forum was set up in response to male pick up communities… which in turn was in response to men feeling that women already had the
upper hand in the art of seduction. What do you think is the biggest difference between the two movements?

Arden Leigh : Definitely the end goals. I mean, there’s a reason that there are no books for men on how to get into relationships and no books for women on how to get laid. This actually goes back to evolutionary psychology; in order for us to further the species, it’s best for women to pair with one mate who’s going to protect and provide for her, while it’s in men’s best interest to pass on their genes by pairing with as many partners as possible. We’ve been at odds with one another since the dawn of man, when you think about it. What the pick-up community did was to equip
men with a strategy to achieve their goals of having access to a wide range of women. What I bring to the table for women is a strategy on how to stand out, how to compel, attract, and add value in a manner that will make the man they want feel that being with them is a better deal than having all their other options.

Acey Slade is the driving member of Acey Slade & The Dark Party, but many know him from his roles in bands such as Trashlight Vision, Vampire Love Dolls, Dope, The Murderdolls, and Wednesday 13.

Your new project, Acey Slade & The Dark Party, seems to have such a hybridized style of rock, punk, metal, and electronic music. Where there any specific influences that you drew from in building the bands sound?

Acey Slade : I am on tour quite a lot of my living life. A lot of times when you are driving at night or trying to sleep in the back of the van, you may not be in the mood for the three chords and a cloud of dust type music I am associated with. So, what I listen to is stuff like Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Depeche Mode, Prodigy, Pendulum, DJ Shadow, Tricky, Portishead. I wanted to explore that stuff and not alinate my fans. Make an album that might be an ‘alternative’ for people who like KISS, Janes Addiction, or other guitar rock stuff.

All Saints is the embodiment of accessible everyday fashions for women and men of all genres. With a mixture of simple well-designed tops, classic jeans, and flowing daytime dresses this brand is like comfort food for fashion.  Organic beauty with a synthetic bite, the quality of the clothes evokes a feeling of movement created by the layers of cottons, and slimming lines, which create naturally feminine silhouettes. The flowing fabrics draw the eye down the body in a soft seduction extenuating the suggestion of the subtle curves of the body. These elements create a muted simplicity and understated disheveled elegance. The meditative shades of earth tones, and grayscale touching the extremes create a poetic ambiance in which the clothes are able to speak for themselves without the need of being overdesigned. The utilization of calming textures, allows the fabric to be shown as cozy and chic. Something you would definitely want to wear to an easy Sunday brunch.

Spanish designer Joaquin Trias showed his first Fall/Winter collection at the recent New York Fashion Week. Trias is a professional tennis player who’s passion for fashion started early in his life which then translated into him showing his first collection ever for the Spring/Summer 2010 season. His ready-to-wear collection features strong lines in sheath dresses and skirts, with classic tailoring reminiscent of 1960s Chanel. Highlights of the collection included; thin obi-like belts, ruched sleeves, and strong necklines. Over all a classic, very flattering collection for many body types and sizes.

Siki Im’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection at New York’s Fashion Week was not your typical menswear design. A mostly black and white collection was filled with; man skirts, kilts, and cropped sweaters, pushing against the normal views of masculinity. The collection read like a sleek business man that combined function with edgy asymmetrical cuts that are pure eye candy. I like the way the kilts were paired with cropped sweaters, accessorized with neckties, trouser socks, and blazers, these pieces all fit together to create a gender neutral silhouette which includes elements from both male and female clothing design. This collection is classic and brings new ideas to the future of menswear and what may become a wider world view of the suit.

Andy & Debb describe their design concepts as, romantic minimalism, and the Fall/Winter 2010 collection for New York’s Fashion Week embodied that label. The designer duo gives us elegant day-to-evening wear with highlights including; a copper tailored suit, a white collar Victorian-esque babydoll dress, a sequined shift dress with strong silhouetted shoulders, and a sleek tuxedo styled jacket. Attention was brought to the necklines; blouses with ruffled detailing, fitted turtlenecks, and boat neck dresses, leaving a very demure and modest feel to the collection as a whole.

Anna Sui Fall/Winter 2010

Layers upon layers of different laces, furs, knits, patterns, and textures was the theme of Anna Sui’s Fall/Winter collection at New York Fashion Week.  The collection read as if a 1960s mod met a sherpa and they both were influenced by the layering trend of the 1990s Seattle grunge scene.

The Fall/Winter collection featured the drop waist dress silhouette as the foundation for most of this season’s looks.  Sui seemed take us on a journey into different eras of the drop waist by showing looks from knitted day-wear to ruffled floral evening dresses into 1920s flapper-inspired bridal wear.  This chaotic array of plaids, florals, patterns, sequins, and even some macramé would make ones head spin, but Sui made me a believer that less can be more!  The highlights of the collection were the details in the patterned tights, fur vests, and pops of jewel-tones like; emerald green, plum purple, and royal blue.  Anna Sui always makes a statement by being on the cusp of alternative fashion, always daring and always giving us all something to drool over!
