As the weather turns crisp, it’s time to pull out the garments made of materials that aren’t so bearable in summer. The hometown rebel wears her leather and vinyl covered in studs and spikes, topped off with chains and metal. Mix high fashion with small town by adding a bandanna to the hair. Be class with a hint of trash by pairing designer fashion with “a bit too much skin” and fuck me pumps, by pairing messy big hair with “a perfect dye job”. Be a bit of a rebel and say… I just don’t care what you think… I do this with ease!

Embrace your femininity with long flowing dresses in chiffon, satin, and pale colors. Take notes from vintage romance, by adorning yourself in costume jewelry that adds the right note of Hollywood glamour. Elevate yourself to a goddess state, with glowing elegant makeup and loosely tied up tresses all fit for a wonderful evening adventure. Sometimes we all need to escape to a world where your beauty is infinite and this look can take you there.

Summer is the perfect time for bold, bright, primary colors, don’t be afraid of them, use them as tools. A little bit southern belle, 80s WASP, and flamenco dancer, this look stands out but uses pieces in traditional styles as a base to support the color. The pattern, multi-colored skirt is highlighted but kept from being overwhelming with solid color garments and accessories. The bold socialite can make her way through the city and the scene in her own way, with her own style.

Meagan Hendrickson :
The days of long ago when ladies had hats and gloves for every occasion and looked like they glided across the floor in long flowing gowns may appear only like a scene out of a historic movie, but modern women are taking glamorous and romantic notes from eras such as, the Victorian era, the 1920s Jazz Age, and the Elizabethan era, and combining them into current ensembles that embody a grace and pose of aristocratic women. Contemporary cuts are being found in historic inspired designs, such as this black velvet jacket, which is reminiscent of a 1800s women’s riding jacket. The lush material of this jacket draws the attention upward and accentuates the nipped in waist line.
The black satin ball skirt is a common and versatile piece in any notable women’s wardrobe. The long flowing layers of fabric keeps some mystery to the women’s body and while seeming demure in nature, showcases a women’s beauty and grace as an extension of their sensuality in it’s use. Women could use the ball skirt or ball gown in flirting with just a twirl and flicker of the piece, very abstract to the modern world, but alluring and intriguing still. Dancing, moving, or even walking in such a large garment can be quite cumbersome and laborious, but once mastered feels delightful and even free as your legs are not restricted.
While I could go on describing each piece and the inspiration Jessica Jean’s aura, expressions, and mood bring to me, I am delighted to see the appreciation for by-gone eras where sweat pants, hoodies, and jeans were not even a glimmer of an idea. Our society has become so casual, sloppy, and morose in terms of dress that any reason to appreciate fineries in this modern age makes it a little bit more fashionable. Empires may have risen and fallen and the aristocratic age is over, but who’s to say you can’t dress up for an evening of cocktails and dancing to take you to on a journey.

Meagan Hendrickson :
Break out of the “little black dress” syndrome of the past and push forward to include wardrobe basics in fabrics like cotton spandex, leather, and even latex. Don’t be afraid to step back and allow your clothing to make a statement, be uncomplicated, and allow the drama of sleek sophisticated designs to grace your body. Avoid the common pitfall of alt fashionistas, it’s not about loud designs in color and texture or fad-like concepts that seem like eye grabbing ideals, but rather, the truth is in the subtle details.
Jessica Darwin is a designer who uses a captivating combination of line, design, and tailoring. To really understand Darwin’s designs you need to experience them for yourself in person. While photography captures the beauty and ideals of the garments, to hold the pieces in your hands is to truly hold pieces of art.
The eye is drawn to the texture of the clothing. The designs are effortless chic. Set against an industrious back drop, create a subdued drama that is truly inspirational by design.

Jennifer Link :
Latex is the material to turn to, to bring a larger than life and fetish, obviously, feel to any outfit. My personal taste lean toward latex pieces that can be paired with other materials or have a classier feel to them. But sometimes latex should just be what latex is best at; provocative, scandalous, and hot. This Octopussy dress by Collective Chaos Design fits that bill perfectly. Made from clear latex and emphasizing that it’s not providing covering where clothes normally do, it’s risqué and sexy but at the same time it’s just fun! The graphic octopus design in purple and baby pink is just right for latex as the material’s nature allows for cut-out and layered shapes. The octopus is a great motif appealing to my interest in leviathans and Lovecraft. An all out there, suggestive latex dress like this is a must have for fetish parties or any more secluded, exclusive party. You could pair this dress with a cream colored latex thong and pasties if you’d rather keep you private parts, private. When opting for a dress like this, defiantly keep some of the class with a sophisticated hairstyle, like the asymmetrical soft curl look here. For makeup keep it simple, clean, and classic, for example in this look the pink lips and elegantly defined brow do this well. And look for a dress with a little tongue in cheek, this dress keeps it fun and doesn’t take its self too seriously.

dress by Romantic Threads
Meagan Hendrickson :
The romanticism of Victorian era fashions gives a feeling of structure, elegance, and prudish morality. It seems strange to even consider in that long past era it was disgraceful for women to show a glimpse of an ankle! From then to this modern day there are many brilliant designers still evoking the Victorian aesthetic mixed with creative non-historically accurate designs.

Zach Rose :
Antiseptic Fashion, the brainchild of Los Angeles DIY designer Billy Vahan combines love for the fetish (leaving little to the imagination) with a unique blend of steampunk and neo-Victorian designs. With fully customizable pieces such as asymmetrical leather posture collars, accessory belts, and underbust corsets reminiscent of fetish meets glorious rebellion.
Billy Vahan and Antiseptic Fashion’s Phrixus leather posture collar holds the head up high (and quite literally keeps your spine in alignment) while adding a regal display of bizarre. While not an everyday item in your fashion arsenal, it adds just enough of that “kink” for those of you who prefer restraint yet not without a touch of elegance.

fashion designer : All Saints
photographer : Steve Prue
model : Arden Leigh
hair and makeup : Arden Leigh
All Saints is the embodiment of accessible everyday fashions for women and men of all genres. With a mixture of simple well-designed tops, classic jeans, and flowing daytime dresses this brand is like comfort food for fashion. Organic beauty with a synthetic bite, the quality of the clothes evokes a feeling of movement created by the layers of cottons, and slimming lines, which create naturally feminine silhouettes. The flowing fabrics draw the eye down the body in a soft seduction extenuating the suggestion of the subtle curves of the body. These elements create a muted simplicity and understated disheveled elegance. The meditative shades of earth tones, and grayscale touching the extremes create a poetic ambiance in which the clothes are able to speak for themselves without the need of being overdesigned. The utilization of calming textures, allows the fabric to be shown as cozy and chic. Something you would definitely want to wear to an easy Sunday brunch.
