item of the week : Minnie Top by House of Etiquette

Friday, February 15th, 2013

It’s the month of love and I can safely say I’m in love with the Minnie Top. House of Etiquette is really becoming a house hold name in quality latex. They are definitely on the forefront of designers that are bringing latex out of the fetish scene and making pieces that you can mix into your everyday wardrobe. With its high collar, slightly puffed sleeves, peplum detailing, mix of vintage and modern, and let’s not forget the easy access zipper; the Minnie Top is a great piece. House of Etiquette offers this gem of a top in a multitude of colors from mint to plum to transparent purple! This top is such a classic style and definitely a latex fashionista must. And if you are new to latex, why not start with a piece that can be dressed up or down? Go ahead, add a little shine to your style!

The Minnie Top by House of Etiquette is available online for $270 at www.houseofetiquette.com.

Toronto ON, April 24-28 - |FAT| or Toronto Arts & Fashion Week is just around the corner!  This is an event not to miss, many of Toronto’s best alternative fashion designers are showing their latest collections. It is a chance to see some of the best alternative fashion in a full production runway show. In addition to runway shows, there are performances, photography exhibits, and videos on display.

Some of the alternative fashion designers showing this year are Asphyxia, Victory & Vice, House of Etiquette, Cinched Tight Corsets, Starkers Corsetry, Pippa Latex, Artifice Clothing, and Dystropolis.

This year |FAT| comes to life at a new location, a former industrial warehouse located at 213 Sterling Road, Toronto’s new up‐and‐coming arts and design district. The 2012 theme is fashionSCAPES and it mirrors the concept of landscapes: unique, seasonal, and ever changing. Each night a different sub‐theme will be explored around the ideas of land, city, body and future.

Advance tickets are $30 for a day pass and $75 for a week pass. One day passes are available at the door for $35. Auxiliary Magazine will be attending |FAT| this year as we have the past few years. Look out for coverage of the event on our website and in the next issue!

the runway at FAT 2011 : House of Etiquette

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

The runway shows at FAT, Toronto’s alternative fashion week.

House of Etiquette

My first encounter with House of Etiquette, a new Canadian latex design company founded in 2009, was at the third day of FAT and I was highly impressed!  House of Etiquette designs are able to invoke both a classic fetish latex feel and a new, innovative high fashion feel at the same time.  A bright red latex halter top bodysuit might seem tired and tacky, but here it is made classic, refined with black trim along the seams and a bold black strap waist cincher.  Even the standard latex color palate is made more refined when the purple is metallic, the black is transparent, and the white has a floral print.  This collection brings sophistication and fashion to latex but keeps it sexy, these pieces could pair nicely with non-latex garments for a night out but would also look authentic at a fetish event or party.  I’m keeping a close eye on House of Etiquette!
