music video : Cult of the Psychic Fetus – Out of the Grave

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

I’m beyond over joyed that one of my favorite bands, Cult of the Psychic Fetus, has released a video to their song, “Out of the Grave”.  The video shows film images from the 1922 horror classic, Nosferatu that are perfectly synced to the rhythm and lyrics of the song.  If you’re not familiar with COTPF, they are an amazing four piece Cleveland, Ohio based band that really forged their own sound infusing gothic sensibilities into the rockabilly genre. “Out of the Grave” is one of the newest songs from COTPF that was released on their Facebook page in 2010.  I’m hoping that a full length album will soon follow as their last album, Funeral Sessions, was released in 2004!  If you like a band that is all horror with haunting guitar rifts, voodoo drums, and howling vocals, check these groovy ghoulies out on Facebook and www.myspace.com/cultofthepsychicfetus.

Iron Fist fug boots

I’m not going to deny it, I’ve been debating buying a pair of Uggs for this winter.  We get a lot of snow where I live, and I hate cold, those boots just look so damn easy and comfy.  Yet the idea of wearing Uggs was bugging me.  I remember a trip to a strip mall last year where I noted 80% of the girls at the Panera we stopped for lunch at were wearing Uggs and the same trend was happening in the Target we went to next.

Problem solved!  Enter Iron Fist’s fug boots.  Available in several styles this fall, each one cover in bold, bright, horror-inspired print. And at $40 for the knee-high and $37.50 for the calf-high boots, who can complain! Much less expensive than a pair of Uggs. It’s a perk that they are vegan-friendly but my main concern is warmth and durability.  Being made of synthetic materials, I’m afraid they won’t be as warm as sheepskin or as durable.  But for the same cost as one pair of Uggs for the winter, you could get a couple of pairs of Iron Fist fug boots and then have more variety!  I think I’m leaning toward the Ladies Wolfbeater, love the contrast of the bloody fangs to the cute red ribbon, and the Ladies Motophsycho, the grey on black calvera print is fun yet subtle.

Bloodbath’s Whipped Sugar Scrub in Zombie Zen

I recently went to a car show and picked up some Bloodbath products from a vendor at a rockabilly festival.  I had seen Bloodbath’s products on their etsy page and was intrigued by the product packaging and the interesting scent names; Creepy Colada, Cleopatra’s Curse, Screamsicle, just to name a few.  I absolutely loved the Zombie Zen for it’s clean smell (it’s unisex too!) that really does last all day long.  The sugar scrub left my skin feeling clean and soft without a residue like some other scrubs can leave behind. I paid extra attention to those especially “dead areas”, like the instructions told me too!  I definately recommend Bloodbath product for all you creatures of the night and as a great gift to give to your horror fiends.

Whipped Sugar Scrub in Zombie Zen is available at bloodbath.etsy.com.
