SuckUK Spooky Bat Pins

I’ve gone a little batty for bats, well bat pegs at least. And who wouldn’t want to clip these babies onto stuff around the house? Who knew how helpful those crazy little flyers could be! Have em hold up your linens in the open air, or you could let the bats fly off your wall in a display of photos and wire. Creep out your friends with the bats lurking in dark cupboards or holding down your chip and cereal bags. You could one would assume even use them like ordinary clothes pegs. SuckUK is selling these individually, a quick Google search finds a few sets of them so you can create a swarm of bats even faster. Bats are not only great for keeping insects at bay, but will now help you around the house keeping things fresh and linens dry!

These Spooky Bat Pegs by SuckUK are available  for £2.00 per peg online at www.suck.uk.com.

Mind.in.a.box’s Dreamweb Pillow

At Auxiliary Magazine we are all very excited about the upcoming mind.in.a.box release, Revelations, released today in Europe and on January 24th in the US. Mind.in.a.box has a new record label and a new online webstore and available on it is this fantastic throw pillow.  Avoid the boring, typical merch and opt for something more unique, a handmade pillow!  How appropriate that this pillow is for their Dreamweb album.  With this pillow you can now curl up and cuddle mind.in.a.box and your love of their music.  Or on a bit more practical note, t-shirts, long desired by miab fans for years (when they played Kinetik Festival 2011 you could make a merch vendor very ornery very fast by asking if they had miab t-shirts) as well as their new album are available on their new webstore.

The mind.in.a.box pillow is available online for €22 at www.mindinabox.com.

upcoming : The Bazaar of the Bizarre

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Toronto ON, March 20 -  Toronto based fashion designer known for their sophisticated cyber wears, Plastik Wrap is hosting their spring edition of The Bazaar of the Bizarre in Toronto this weekend.  The Bazaar of the Bizarre is sort of like a craft show but the way you’ve always dreamed one could be with unique and alternative vendors, from artists, to craftsman, to fashion designers, and more.  The spring editions, such as this one, are circus sideshow themed (in fall they offer a Halloween themed edition).

Some of the vendors this year include Plastik Wrap and BitchCraft of course, Fashion Whore, Dark Destiny Designs, Clockwork Zero, and more.  You can view a full list of vendors HERE.

I attended last year’s spring Bazaar and it is a great event, not to miss!  You can pick up all sorts fun stuff  for yourself or it really makes a great place to shop for unique gifts. Last year I purchased a handsome zombie velvet throw pillow from Sew Scary (also vending this year) as part of a wedding gift, and the bride and groom loved it!  (I’ve seen a sneaky photo from the bride of her husband cuddling the pillow in his sleep to prove it.)

everyday is halloween : an early shopping guide

Monday, August 16th, 2010

It’s hard to even think about anything else other than air conditioning and cool drinks in August, but with back-to-school items also comes seasonal Halloween items! Halloween is my most favorite time of the year, when I can casually go shop and  feast my eyes upon rows filled with spiders, ghosts, black cats, and skeletons. I actually stock up on my household decor, like dish towels, candles, wall art, and other various spooky ookiness. I’ve learned over the years to look for items early because all the really neat Halloween decorations sell out so quickly! Let my obsessive investigative skills help you score some sweet Halloween swag.

Pottery Barn is always a first stop on my shopping quest as they have the classiest glassware. I fell in love with all their items last year when we received the 2009  cocktail collection as a wedding gift. The Halloween Etched Recipe Cocktail Shaker is just perfect for entertaining all year long and the recipes on the shaker are to die for! Check out the skull and crossbones detailing around the edges of the recipe, absolutely perfect!

You can buy the Halloween Etched Recipe Cocktail Shaker at www.potterybarn.com

In addition to the Halloween Etched Cocktail Shaker, this set of four Etched Tombstone Double Old-Fashioned Tumblers by Pottery Barn are a perfect match. The etched phrases are a little cheesy, but the tombstone styling makes up for it! Along with the shaker, these items are too pretty to store in the cabinet. If you have a bar, these could double as cheeky home decor.
