Buffalo NY, May 16 – Santigold has been touring non-stop, with a few more dates in North America, she moves onto Europe and then back. In May we had the chance to catch a show. Santigold mixes electronia and new wave with hip hop and reggae, and before you dismiss that she is not your preferred style of music, know that she is. Santigold creates a style that is all her own, that can appeal to a wide range of musical tastes, and brings an incredible amount of energy to her live shows. Santigold sounds at home played at a ragging summer party and a goth/industrial night.

Buffalo NY, May 7 – M83 are currently touring Europe, they will be back in North America touring from August to October, and back in May we had the chance to catch one of their shows. If you haven’t already, make sure you see one of their shows this fall. An excellent example of how to do an electronic music concert right, M83 gave their all, the songs sounded beautiful live, and the sold out crowd was in awe. There is a reason you have been hearing M83 left and right and their popularity is growing at a very fast rate, it is well deserved.

Buffalo NY, November 18 – In November Buffalo’s Mass Appeal 2011 took place, a unique local fashion event and runway show produced by Erin Habes and the Elmwood Village Association, featuring many designers and boutiques including Once Vintage and Made by Anatomy. Once Vintage is a Buffalo based fashion company founded by Auxiliary contributor Molly Hoeltke, featuring a carefully curated collection of one-of-a-kind vintage pieces as well as hand-made updated vintage re-constructions. Made by Anatomy is a Buffalo based fashion brand designed by Ali Eagen. Both have been featured in Auxiliary Magazine!

focused music news for week 15 : April 10th to April 16th 2011

April 12 – Post-hardcore/post-rock band Thursday move in a darker direction, a more atmospheric direction on their new album, No Devolucion. Out on Epitaph, this album was recorded in Ferdonia, New York with producer Dave Fridmann from our home town of Buffalo, New York! I always get excited when I find a hometown connection in music.  

April 12 – When I say, “The Golden Vagina of Fame and Profit,” what do you think of??  That’s right Caustic’s fantastic new album on Metropolis! Be warned that after a few listens you will wake up in the middle of the night chanting “Bulletproof Lolita” and have your significant other yelling at you to shut the fuck up!
