upcoming : |FAT| Arts & Fashion Week 2012

Friday, April 13th, 2012

Toronto ON, April 24-28 - |FAT| or Toronto Arts & Fashion Week is just around the corner!  This is an event not to miss, many of Toronto’s best alternative fashion designers are showing their latest collections. It is a chance to see some of the best alternative fashion in a full production runway show. In addition to runway shows, there are performances, photography exhibits, and videos on display.

Some of the alternative fashion designers showing this year are Asphyxia, Victory & Vice, House of Etiquette, Cinched Tight Corsets, Starkers Corsetry, Pippa Latex, Artifice Clothing, and Dystropolis.

This year |FAT| comes to life at a new location, a former industrial warehouse located at 213 Sterling Road, Toronto’s new up‐and‐coming arts and design district. The 2012 theme is fashionSCAPES and it mirrors the concept of landscapes: unique, seasonal, and ever changing. Each night a different sub‐theme will be explored around the ideas of land, city, body and future.

Advance tickets are $30 for a day pass and $75 for a week pass. One day passes are available at the door for $35. Auxiliary Magazine will be attending |FAT| this year as we have the past few years. Look out for coverage of the event on our website and in the next issue!

To purchase tickets and for more information go to www.fashionarttoronto.ca.

Artifice Clothing’s Cyber PVC Leeloo Costume

The futuristic and campy movie, The Fifth Element, may be best known for the character Leeloo, played by actress Milla Jovovich. While most of us may not remember most of the plot or even the other actors in the movie, we do remember Leeloo’s white PVC banded outfit that I’m sure made millions drool. Well, Artifice Clothing has infused their knowledge of PVC costuming into the Cyber PVC Leeloo Costume, available in a variety of colors including white, black, pink, and yellow. Not only would this make a great costume for the Halloween season, it’s a great piece for cosplay events, photoshoots, or fetish events.

The Cyber PVC Leeloo Costume is available online at www.artificeclothing.com.

Be sure to check out the October/November 2011 Issue designer spotlight on Artifice Clothing.

The December/January 2010/2011 Issue of Auxiliary Magazine features the beautiful Kelleth Cuthbert as our PinUp.  We had the opportunity to travel up to Working Proof Studios in Toronto, Ontario to work with talented designer Emily Rishea of Artifice Clothing, Irina Lavrega who did an amazing job on hair, and Heather Orr of Dream Clean Makeup.

The uniquely moldable Kelleth Cuthbert of Next Models Toronto is a model whose work ethic and dedication to the industry is one that is not to be taken lightly.  As an icon who seamlessly blurs the lines of commercial and alternative modeling, Kelleth’s commitment to professionalism has brought her much success in just a few short years.
