The LA based fashion designer Jessica Darwin first caught my attention on the networking site, Model Mayhem, a few years ago and I have been a fan ever since. Her attention to tailored lines, cut, and draping fabrics make her collections interesting and receive my admiration for her design skills. The clothing combines artistic elements with eye-catching silhouettes to make her pieces unique and wearable.
Jessica Darwin recently released a short avant garde video untitled, The Venus for the new Spring 2010 collection named jinxed. The edgy, stylized video has an art directed feel with over exposed shots, android-esque femininity, and the right touch of sensuality.
One of the highlights of the “jinxed” Spring 2010 collection is The Suspension Dress, made of French grey silk with a bustle that hangs from the delicate chain details. The dress combines side draping on the hip, a ruched neck, and a fitted bust, leaving the back and sides of the design completely open. This custom dress can be ordered through the website and retails for $429, a moderate price for an original piece to add to your wardrobe.
