animal prints! blessing or cursed?
Friday, January 2nd, 2009Animal prints are a personal favorite of mine, making appearances in my closet in many different forms. They are a current trend: zebra, leopard, snake, and cheetah prints are making it into various incarnations. Though, I have to put my foot down on these 70s style batwing tops! (batwing tops have no defined arms, almost smock-ish) They would make any women look like they are wearing a muumuu, no matter what their size! It’s just plain gross. You want the print to flatter your figure and ensemble, not have hunters tag you as game. Even though I am a fan of the “go big or go home”, sometimes you just have to limit your choices when animal prints are involved. And for the love of Pete, please have animal types match! (Leopards are zebras natural enemies in the wild and should stay the same way when adorning your body.)
Solid colors are your best friend when looking for something to pair with an animal print: leopard leggings paired with a simple black dress, zebra top paired with red pants, solid colored outfit using animal print accessories (in this instance you can go a little crazy with the use of matching prints; i.e. leopard heels, head scarf, handbag). Yet! As much as I love animal prints, I do not encourage wearing real animal pelts or furs.
