I have to say I LOVE to accessorize!  Give me a new necklace or handbag and I’m happy as a pig in shhhhhhhhi, poop!  I love accessorizing due to A) it’s usually the right fit and B) if I want something new, it’s a way to change it up with little monies.

I have to say I’ve been really shocked and happy with the store Forever 21. Not only about the great prices, but also how many things there I like!  I can easily see the choices of just the jewelry accommodating a lot of looks and even being used for some of my more “gothy” ensembles.  Check them out here: forever21.com or if you live close to a mall, check them out there!  The store may seem scary and too “girly, mainstream”.  But, I’ve gotten some really good basics from there.  I have also purchased a very nice “Tim Burton-ish” blazer at Forever 21 for only $30!

I’m also in love with a local Buffalo designer of wonderful and kitschy handbags, Dungaree Dolly.  Dolly makes the best handbags for all sorts of gals (and even guys!) and these bags are made to last!  Every bag is hand made by Dolly, so she can pretty much make anything for you… just ask her.  I love my (I believe it’s called) “Carry-all”, in a limited edition Bride-of-Frankenstein/Halloween print.  The bag is seriously THE BEST BAG I’ve ever had, so much so that I have been using it for almost two months!  I went from the gal who changed her bag almost everyday, to being in love with just one!  Check out Dungaree Dolly’s site and get hooked!  Or get someone else hooked for the holiday season!

And of course, making your own DIY accessories at home can really satisfy your craving for a new lil’ something to spice up that old outfit.  I’ve been making little feathery hair- pieces with craft glue, felt, and hairs clips.  I’ve been gluing the feathers in an almost “fan-like” shape to a small piece of black felt like a base, then gluing the felt base to a hair clip.  (Feathers can get really messy and usually stick together so use small amounts of glue.)  Easy!  Simple!  And feathers can be found at a craft store for just a few bucks.

The most annoying thing in the world happened to me the other day and I have not had the time to get it fixed. My balance is all off and I feel deaf in one ear or the other every time. This is such a distraction that I can’t seem to get anything done nor is it making my job any easier. I just want to SMASH things!! My damn headphones broke and only one side is working! I need to take 20 minutes out of my day and go buy new ones but every day (for a week now) I run out of time. I have a plan to get some new ones today. The only thing that is going to stop me is 12 feet of snow, and according to weather.com we are only going to get 1 to 3 inches today.

Ugg, This sucks.

The latest focus on my own hair seems to be using my own hair! Now, I’ve always been an advocate for the faux hair-ness, but I’ve gotten to a point where I’ve “been there, done that” and I’m just bored! The latest and greatest medium… *drum roll* what’s already on top of my head! GASP!

I’m learning all over again how to style, tease, roll and smooth my own locks! The key of what I have been doing with styling is: practice, practice, practice!!!! When I’m not in a rush to get to an event or just have some time, I’ve been piling it all on the top of my noggin and working out a plan of attack from there. My main goal is big (go big or go home!) hair that has been often questioned, “Is that all your real hair?” BINGO! I’ve been accomplishing the reverse illusion!

I’ve been making and wearing a lot of mini-hats and hairpieces that are reminiscent of the 1930’s. So, I’ve been making a point to use my own hair as the anchor for the hats/hair-pieces and building-up the “do” from there. I have to say it’s been really rewarding and a lot less headaches, literally.

By no means am I giving up on my tried and true faux hair falls and pieces! It’s just another way of me keeping the look fresh and new, and it’s a challenge!

Listening to IDM at work for the last two weeks has put me in a slightly depressed mood. Thankfully I have a remedy and it doesn’t include some medication that will leave me suicidal. It’s a May 2008 Metropolis Records release by A Kiss Could Be Deadly (self titled album). Classified on Metropolis’s website as Rock Pop or a fusion of punk, new wave and electro. Whatever it is I like it, I REALLY like it. Once I gave it a few listens I was bobbing my head and singing along to ALL the tracks and I am sure I look funny sitting in my cubical but it is irresistible.

I wouldn’t name this album of the year 2008, but I am sure I will be listening to this one for years to come.

I have been addicted to the song “Pass This On” by The Knife off their album Deep Cuts which was released in the US on 10 / 31 / 2006 (on the single for Pass This On). It makes me feel all fuzzy inside.
